I’ve completely lost my mind. Had her wolf finally taken over all her senses? What the hell did she think she’d accomplish fucking a human in Gunther’s bar like she didn’t have a care in the world? Gunther counted on her to be his sensible employee. The one who wouldn’t lose her head because she couldn’t afford to.

She’d just confessed to this male that she shifted. Bloody Hell.

He kissed her hard, pushing her back against the jukebox. She’d denied him her mouth earlier. However, since she’d already told him her secret, there didn’t seem much point in not touching mouths with the man.

Bloody hell, the man can really kiss. His firm, moist lips pressed against hers, pushing through her barriers with his tongue. Music filled the room and the vibrations from the jukebox added naughtiness to her actions, serving to remind her with each touch that she indulged in something she shouldn’t.

He moaned, his cock jumping. She’d made him hard again in almost no time with just a kiss. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt so powerful.

He grabbed hold of her hair, scrunching it in his hands. Leaning back, he gazed into her eyes. “You are so fucking hot.”

She could deny it, she supposed. Most men didn’t give her a second glance and she had no problem with that. Why would she want to waste her time with shifters who wanted to dominate her, or human males who’d betray her? But Scott honestly seemed to find her incredibly attractive.

She stared at his face for a moment, memorizing it. His red hair—almost a strawberry blond—and blue eyes, gave him an innocence his gaze didn’t support. Holding her up and ready to fuck her, he seemed like a guy who knew the world and how to live in it.

“I’ve spent most of my life running. It’s what I do. It’s how I survive. I’m only here briefly until it’s time to disappear again.” Oh, hell. Why had she confessed that? Had something destroyed the common sense in her brain? He might be Stark’s brother, but she didn’t know him, couldn’t trust him for more than a night of hot sex.

He shook his head. “No more. Whatever it is, you don’t run from me.”

She swallowed. “That’s not an option. I don’t care what the papers say. Shifters aren’t safe. I won’t be shot down or caged like an abused dog.”

He tugged her shirt, lifting it over her head. “I’ll keep you safe.”

She kissed him, his words threatening to melt her insides and she couldn’t have that. Not with her life at stake.

His hands caressed her breasts, stroking them with his thumbs before unclasping her bra. He drew back from their kiss and leaned over to take her nipple in his mouth. He sucked and she stroked the back of his neck, digging her fingers into his skin. Her claws threatened to unsheathe, but she held them in check. Bedding humans had always been a problem—she had to be in control. Although truthfully, shifters didn’t do much for her either, most of the time.
